The SPOT HUG is a comprehensive worldwide security system for boats that incorporates both GPS tracking and satellite-based communications technologies. What distinguishes the HUG from competing devices is its large number of tracking, remote monitoring and messaging capabilities.
Asset Tracking / Theft Resistance
Without question, the SPOT HUG's greatest feature is its Unauthorized Movement Monitoring. If your boat moves outside of a 500-meter security perimeter, its geographic coordinates are sent via a private satellite network to an Asset Monitoring Center. The center will then notify the boat owner, he or she’s programmed contacts and the local authorities, maximizing the chances of asset recovery.
Satellite-Based Positioning Network
Because boats and other watercraft traverse the open sea, they frequently travel outside of cell phone range. The SPOT HUG’s security and communications systems use only satellites, making cell phone “dead zones” a non-issue.
Multiple Messaging Options from Anywhere around the Globe
With the SPOT HUG you can reach out to friends and family and let them know how you’re doing by pressing the Check-IN/OK button on the system's Key FOB or Keypad. You can also convey your need for assistance by simply pressing the Help button.
Expandability
In addition to tracking and communicating, the SPOT HUG can simultaneously monitor several sensors, including those that detect when the boat's battery status is low or alert you upon discovering the presence of smoke or fire. The boat's bilge status sensor can also be remotely monitored.
SOS/Panic Button
One of the most important features of the SPOT HUG is its SOS button. If anyone on your boat finds him or herself in need of emergency assistance, they can reach out to the GEOS International Emergency Response Center by simply pressing the SOS button on the included keypad or key FOB. The boat's geographic coordinates will then be relayed to local relief organizations.
